Having a child with Attention Deficit Hyper-activity Disorder can be a scary thing for a parent. We wonder how our child can ever become a productive member of society. As scary as it is for us I wonder how hard it is for our son. Does he know that he’s different? Can he imagine how hard his life is going to be when he grows up?

Our son was diagnosed with ADHD when he was 5 years old and just starting kindergarten. The teacher noticed the symptoms in the middle of the school year – inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity. My wife and I had our doubts. After all aren’t all five year olds like this? What concerned the teacher most of all was his inability to create interpersonal relationships with other children in his class or the school.

What’s wrong with Waterworld?

Waterworld is classified as an action/science fiction movie which was released in 1995 by Universal Pictures with a budgeted cost of $100 million. This however escalated up to $175 million which was unheard of at the time. There were many setbacks which added to the cost of production like Hurricane weather which collapsed a set worth a million dollars. With a box office take of only $88 million Waterworld was tagged a bomb. However overseas sales along with VHS and DVD sales allowed the movie to recoup some of its loses.

People with pets suck! Somtimes.

People with pets are such assholes! Not all of them of course but most. The other day as I was walking my kids to school an asshole with a huge horse looking Great Dane stopped in front of us and let the monster take a crap on the sidewalk. If you’ve never seen a dog this big take a crap you should take some time off from work and see the show. It reminded me of the soft-serve ice cream machine at any local restaurants except built for giants. Anyway, this damn monster takes a crap right on the sidewalk and this asshole owner doesn’t bother to clean it up. I don’t see how he could have anyway. He would have needed to be carrying a trash bin for that steaming pile of dino-chow. Once finished the dog and owner continue walking along as if nothing has happened. I would have chased after him but it would have taken days to get around this mountain of Science Diet aftermath. The following day the mess was gone. I assume the poor smuck who lived there hired a dump truck and had it hauled away.

On Saturday, March 6^th I was looking for two twin sized mattresses for my boys’ bunk beds and I cannot tell you what a hassle it was. I mistakenly thought I could go into a store and say, “I want two of those” and pay maybe fifty bucks a piece for them then come home and be done with it. I was sorely mistaken. I had no idea mattresses cost so much these days. The first store I went to quoted me $99 each! Are you insane? And that was just for a half mattress half box-spring combo thingy. These come with a box-spring underneath and a 2 inch foam top. Anyway, I walked out disgusted with the price. Then several stores later the price hadn’t gone under the $99 mark. What the hell is going on?

Like everything in our lives dealing with death is subjective. Is it traumatic? Devastating? Just one of those things that happen? Depending on who you ask, the answer will change from person to person. One thing that is not subjective is that death is so much a part of life. From the moment we are conceived we begin the process that will lead us eventually to the grave. Some die of natural causes and others are taken in many different ways before the normal life cycle is complete. Aside from the way one dies the attitude towards death can be as different as night and day.
